MENA - Textile unions in Morocco, Jordan, Tunisia, Egypt and Palestine have launched a campaign to fight for social protection and better health and safety standards in the region’s textile, garment, shoes and leather (TGSL) factories.
Unions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region which are affiliated to the global IndustriALL trade union federation decided on the campaign after conducting a survey on social security.
The IndustriALL MENA TGSL unions identified the need for a regional campaign, using international tools like global framework agreements, the International Accord on Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry, and the ILO code of practice to improve social security and health and safety.
