LENZING - Austrian wood-based fibre producer Lenzing has announced that its Chinese subsidiary will be using 100 per cent renewable electricity from 2023, reducing carbon emissions by 100,000 tonnes annually.
Lenzing Nanjing Fibers will also convert its standard viscose production line to one that exclusively produces up to 35,000 tonnes a year of its Tencel-branded eco-friendly specialty fibres.
“Demand for our wood-based, biodegradable specialty fibres is constantly rising. We see enormous growth potential, especially in Asia,” commented Robert van de Kerkhof, chief commercial officer for fibre at Lenzing.
