LENZING - Austrian wood-based fibre producer Lenzing has announced that its production site in Indonesia is now using electricity solely from renewable sources.
Indonesian subsidiary South Pacific Viscose (SPV) has been using electricity generated solely from renewable sources at its plant in Purwakarta since July this year, reducing carbon emissions by 75,000 tonnes annually.
Lenzing has invested €100 million (US$99m) in switching from fossil to biogenic fuels, as well as on reducing air and water emissions, as part of its goal to halve carbon emissions by 2030.
