STOCKHOLM – Swedish fashion giant H&M is to expand its collaboration with blockchain specialist TextileGenesis, with the view to tracing more than 200 million items by the end of the year.
H&M has worked with TextileGenesis to trial its solution, through which product-specific data is uploaded to the blockchain – an immutable ledger – establishing oversight of its journey through the supply chain.
The retailer has said it’ll start by tracing garments made using man-made cellulosic fibres and recycled polyester and will aim to increase the ratio of items in its portfolio that are mapped over the coming years.
