LONDON – The UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is urging the government to legally define sustainability terms such as 'recyclable' and 'carbon neutral' to reduce greenwashing.
The watchdog made the call in an open letter to Business Secretary Kwasi Kwarteng in response to a request for information following the publication of the CMA’s Green Claims Code last May.
The CMA is currently focusing on greenwashing in the fashion industry and last week warned that it would soon be publishing a list which would "name and shame" the worst offenders.
