CLERMONT-FERRAND – French recycling firm Carbios and its partners Deloitte and T.EN Zimmer have secured a €3.3 million (US$3.7m) grant through the European Union’s LIFE funding programme.
It comes in recognition of Carbios’ efforts to commercialise its C-ZYME chemical recycling solution, which has proven its efficacy at repurposing plastic waste into virgin-grade textile fibre.
“The grant will help fund the development of trials on plastic and textile waste at the demonstration plant, which will help confirm the process' scale-up and lead to the commercialisation of our technology through licensing,” commented Kader Hidra, Carbios’ chief financial officer.
