YANGON - Scandinavian fashion giants H&M and Bestseller have begun placing new orders again in Myanmar but the country's garment industry received another setback when C&A became the latest company to put a halt on new orders.
Major companies, including H&M, Bestseller, Primark and Benneton, had halted new orders from Myanmar because of the unstable situation in the country following the military coup in February.
Both H&M and Bestseller have confirmed to Ecotextile News that they were beginning to place new orders again with their suppliers in Myanmar after a temporary pause after the coup.
However, moving in the opposite direction is retail giant C&A which says it will honour all existing commitments to suppliers and factories but has decided to put a pause on all new orders.
