YANGON - Brands including Zara owner Inditex, Primark and Bestseller have launched investigations into allegations of mass sackings of trade union members and officials at their suppliers in Myanmar under the guise of coronavirus cutbacks.
The Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC) is accusing three garment factories - Rui Ning, Huabo Times and Myan Mode - of laying off a disproportionate number of union members after they made complaints over unsafe working conditions relating to COVID-19 and unpaid wages.
Rui Ning supplies brands including Inditex, Bestseller and Mango; Huabo Times sells to Inditex, Bestseller and Primark; while Myan Mode's customers include Inditex and Mango.
