VANCOUVER - A total of 85 textile and apparel brands have signed up for a new industry initiative from Textile Exchange and the Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action to increase the use of recycled polyester.
The 2025 Recycled Polyester Challenge aims to increase the use of recycled polyester (rPET) - in place of virgin polyester - from the current average of 14 per cent to 45 per cent by 2025 and 90 per cent by 2030.
Brands to have committed to the project so far include Adidas, G-Star Raw, H&M, Helly Hansen, Zara owner Inditex, Lululemon and VF Corp which owns The North Face, Timberland and Vans.
