LEICESTER – Fast fashion brand Boohoo, which last year became embroiled in allegations of poor working conditions at its supplier factories in Leicester, has submitted plans to establish its own factory in the midlands city.
The online apparel giant has said it hopes the site will “restore and promote” the city’s reputation.
In an exclusive interview with Ecotextile News, the brand’s responsible sourcing director, Andrew Reaney, said: “We’re absolutely not running from Leicester, we’re committed to Leicester, we’re committed to UK manufacturing and we’re committed to making things better.”
