LEICESTER – Fast fashion retailer Boohoo has told its Leicester suppliers that they must stop sub-contracting work by 5th March, as the company looks to get a better grip of its supply network.
The decision aligns with recommendations made by Alison Levitt QC, who Boohoo commissioned to conduct an independent investigation into the firm’s Leicester supply chain last September, which challenged Boohoo to reduce its list of suppliers with “the goal of reducing and ultimately eliminating sub-contracting”.
Since Levitt published her findings – which concluded that Boohoo had made significant “failings” in its Leicester supply chain – the brand has launched an Agenda for Change programme which is being overseen by retired judge Sir Brian Leveson.
