WASHINGTON DC - A new multi-stakeholder project has been launched to put a more accurate number on the size of the carbon footprint of the global fashion and textiles industry.
Called 'Roadmap to Net Zero', it involves the World Resources Institute (WRI), Apparel Impact Institute (AII), the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and Higg Co, and is supported by the Laudes Foundation.
Currently out to consultation and due to publish its final report at the end of the year, it aims to get a better idea of the sector's carbon footprint by combining fibre weight data from the Textile Exchange with the resources of the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (MSI) tool.
