GLOBAL – Workers’ rights organisation Remake has provided an update on the success of its PayUp campaign, recognising that 13 major fashion brands and retailers have now agreed to pay for orders both completed and in-production, valuing US$7.5 billion globally.
In just a month, Remake says the PayUp campaign has garnered the support of more than 4.5 million people, and has played a significant role in urging leading stakeholders to honour commitments with suppliers that would otherwise leave workers impoverished.
Amongst the high-profile names to have recently committed to repaying workers are Next, Zara, Marks and Spencer, Target, PVH and LPP; whilst C&A, Primark, Gap and Bestseller remain on Remake’s radar.
