SEATTLE - Online retail giant Amazon has publicly disclosed the names and addresses of more than 1,000 suppliers which produce Amazon-branded products, following requests from organisations campaigning for more transparency in e-commerce and fashion supply chains.
The move was welcomed by campaigners but they complained that the list was not easily accessible, sortable, or sufficiently detailed regarding the products made in the listed facilities, limiting its value for consumers, workers, and labour advocates.
Amazon published the list of suppliers online at sustainability.aboutamazon.com where it also features its sustainability targets under the banner: "Committed to a sustainable future."
