BARCELONA – “When you look at the supply chain of an average retailer, when you look at how many workers are registered in that supply chain as a hypothetical example, you can factor in that there’ll be five times more invisible workers than visible workers,” Lea Esterhuizen, founder of &Wider, told the Sustainable Fashion Academy’s Michael Schragger at this summer’s Planet Textiles conference.
Esterhuizen runs a cloud-based platform and is, increasingly, a third-party supplier to textile factories and enquiring buyers, in a bid to create greater transparency and a voice to workers in manufacturing facilities the world over.
