The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Foundation has called on suppliers and brands working with man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) to establish policies aligned with its own guidelines.

It says both brands and suppliers that source MMCF materials should establish chemical management policies that are aligned. This, says the ZDHC, will allow these stakeholders to more easily reduce the impact of MMCF production.

The ZDHC also says the MMCF Module on the ZDHC Supplier Platform is now open for submissions (for viscose, modal, lyocell, cupro and acetate) and remains open until the 31st May. It calls for suppliers to assess chemical management practices, including chemical recovery, wastewater management and air emissions.

The MMCF Module is aligned and included in Canopy’s Hot Button Report through chemical management criteria.
