Germany has prepared a restriction proposal on Perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA) in the European Union related substances and it kicked off a six month consultation started on 25 March, 2020.
This info session from the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) gives an update on the proposed restriction, clarifies its scope and how stakeholders can prepare and submit comments as part of the consultation.
Perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA) are versatile compounds and have been used in various sectors such as clothing, polymers and fire extinguishing agents for their powerful repellent properties. However, their persistent and mobile properties make the control of their emissions and exposure difficult, and they have been linked to adverse effects to both human health and the environment.
