UTRECHT – A new life-cycle assessment that compares the overall production of fabrics made with spun-dyed modal to conventionally dyed modal fabrics, has found the cumulative energy use and carbon footprint of spun-dyed modal is around 80 per cent lower, and that water use is 64 per cent lower in the wet processing stage alone.
