LONDON – The annual RITE Group conference on textiles and sustainability is taking shape for its sixth event on 10th October in London with key speakers already confirmed from The European Outdoor Group, UK textile upcycling brand Worn Again and the waterless dyeing technology specialist DyeCoo Textile Systems.

Attendees at this year’s annual RITE Group conference will once again hear from leading industry figures about a diverse range of environmental challenges facing the textile sector. These will include a critical appraisal of the challenges faced when developing metrics by Mark Held, the Secretary General of the European Outdoor Group, a leading organisation, which represents the common interests of the top European outdoor clothing brands.

UK-based Worn Again will talk about its latest efforts to supply upcycle rather than downcycle textile goods into other useful products of similar value with Cyndi Rhoades, CEO and Nick Ryan, Head of Production at Worn Again both sharing a platform.

A discussion on potentially step-changing waterless textile dyeing will also feature at the RITE conference with Reinier Mommaal, the CEO of Dutch engineering firm DyeCoo, talking about the commercial implementation of CO2 dyeing. The company is already working with Nike to dye polyester fabrics for football shirts, but with the help of its manufacturing partner in Thailand it is also looking at dyeing cotton and other fabrics made from different synthetic and natural fibres.

In addition to main stage speakers, RITE will also host its traditional and lively breakout sessions, which will tackle the current big environmental issues in the textile sector such as the Greenpeace ‘Detox’ campaign. This year, each breakout session will take the form of a debate rather than a mini-conference style set up. Delegates will also be treated to lunch and a drinks reception.

Further speakers and topics will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

The venue for the event is once again Central Hall, Westminster, London. Be sure to add Weds 10th October to your diary and to register your interest in attending the conference, please email Rebecca Brown HERE. On-line bookings will open shortly.
