Our new platform aims to make it easier for all industry stakeholders – from suppliers, through to retailers and brands, to civil society and policymakers – to filter through the white noise of unsubstantiated environmental claims made elsewhere on the web and social media.
This new website also offers more value to our loyal subscribers who for many years have supported the work we do to help change the way our industry works.
New improved features for subscribers include:
- more exclusive, searchable, categorised and archived daily news
- educational webinars in cooperation with organisations such as UNEP, OECD and the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA)
- an innovative new ‘Radar’ with live news relevant to our sector
- enhanced useability, enabling subscribers to manage their own accounts
- improved account security through two-factor authentication
- a twice-weekly Ecotextile Bulletin of our own breaking news together with context driven third-party content from verified blue-chip sources
We are launching this new platform amidst the most turbulent period for the news industry since we first embarked upon our objective to advance sustainability within global textile and clothing supply chains nearly 20 years ago.
The political winds of change, and associated economic turmoil and uncertainty, have, for some in our industry, superseded the environmental and social changes that we have consistently called for since this publication was first launched.
It’s true that without financial sustainability, there is no environmental sustainability, but what’s also true is that without addressing environmental and social issues, there can no long-term be financial sustainability for any company operating within the textile value chain.
That’s what we’ve seen – and reported on – over the last 20 years when our in-house journalists and correspondents have visited hundreds of textile mills on several continents, not to mention scores of international textile trade shows and other events.
Sustainability still core
Impending regulation, the drive towards greater manufacturing efficiency, changes in regional sourcing, advances in technical innovation, artificial intelligence, easier access to finance, and the growing impacts of climate change mean that the long-term movement towards a more sustainable textile sector will outstrip short-term political and financial necessities.
That’s why we’re confidently investing in this new platform to serve the needs of forward-thinking textile and clothing industry stakeholders such as you. We believe that you too should have the confidence in the prospect of a future sustainable textile and clothing sector.
Being a small, independent publisher makes us nimble, responsive, and able to take risks such as heavy investment in digital content delivery. It allows us to punch above our weight against corporate news outlets backed by global fashion magnates and multi-million-dollar publishing dynasties.
But we can’t do it without you. That’s why we’d like to put on record our thanks to the loyal subscribers, advertisers and industry advocates who continue to support Ecotextile News so that a truly independent, timely, verified news source is still available to our industry.
Please feel free to create an account with us, if you don’t already have one, and you can sign up to our newsletters and partner webinars for free.
In the meantime, we salute you all …
