Shein has teamed up with scientists at Donghua University to develop a process to chemically recycle pre- and post-consumer waste that it says will start commercial-scale production as early as June 2025.
Shein claims to have developed a new ‘innovative’ chemical polyester recycling process that uses both pre-and post-consumer feedstock in partnership with researchers at Donghua University in China that will be used for its own branded clothing.
The ultra-fast fashion retailer says it will work with a preferred network of fibre suppliers to scale up the technology supplying it with 3,000 metric tonnes of recycled polyester annually
