Fast fashion giant Shein has announced the establishment of a new charitable foundation, along with a multi-million dollar donation to the Africa Collect Textiles (ACT) Foundation, a social enterprise that has developed a used textiles collection and recycling pilot programme in Kenya.

The launch of the foundation follows a controversial appearance in the UK by Yinan Zhu, Shein’s general counsel for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), who was last week accused of behaviour "bordering on contempt" in refusing to give evidence to influential Business and Trade Committee.
