LONDON - Animal welfare campaigners have accused the Australian wool industry of breaking a promise to end mulesing and has urged politicians to step in to ban the controversial process by the end of the decade.

The report - jointly produced by Four Paws, Humane Society International Australia and the Australian Alliance for Animals - points out that Australia provides 70% of the wool used by the global fashion industry but is the only country to continue mulesing lambs.
