BRUSSELS - A two-year project set up to establish the level of potentially hazardous chemicals contained in garments imported into the European Union (EU) has published its final results.
The REACH4Textiles project subjected 160 products to a total of 2,374 tests with 26 - 16% - failing to meet the required standards. Some 42% of the imported garments originated from China which was by far the biggest exporter identified in the tests.
