The much-anticipated, KPMG-led technical review of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition's Higg MSI and PM tools has been finally released.
It was back in June 2022 that the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) announced it was commissioning an independent expert review of its Higg Materials Sustainability Index (Higg MSI) after consumer watchdogs in Norway declared its use on consumer-facing product labels illegal.
The SAC, which owns the Higg Index tools, said then that the review was already planned but had been brought forward in light of the Norwegian Consumer Authority's (NCA) finding that the use of Higg MSI data to make claims about an organic cotton t-shirt was "likely to be false and untruthful".
