LONDON - Animal welfare organisation Four Paws says that 400 fashion brands have now publicly stated their opposition to the practice of mulesing in the wool industry.
Four Paws has long campaigned against the practice which involves cutting away strips of skin from the breech of lambs to reduce parasitic infection.
It argues that mulesing is cruel although some sheep farmers in Australia, the only country in the world where it is still practised, argue it is the most effective treatment.
