WASHINGTON DC - Fears of being accused of greenwashing are making fashion brands and retailers reluctant to share environmental information with consumers, according to the American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA).
In its formal response to the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) review of its Green Guides, the AAFA says this is leading to the phenomenon of 'greenhushing'.
The FTC is currently reviewing the Green Guides - which are designed to help marketers avoid making environmental claims that mislead consumers - for the first time in a decade.
