ZURICH - Environmental certification specialist Oeko-Tex is claiming a milestone with the announcement that more than 1,000 facilities globally have now been certified as complying with its STeP standard.
STeP (Sustainable Textile Production) is a certification system for brands, retail companies and manufacturers from the textile and garment supply chain who want to communicate their achievements regarding sustainable production.
Oeko-Tex says that more than a million people work at the certified facilities under socially responsible working conditions, receiving fair wages and benefiting from health and safety measures including risk analysis, building safety, training and safe chemical handling.
