BOULDER - Scaling up the electrification of the global textile and apparel manufacturing industry could cut costs and reduce the sector's impact on climate change, according to a new report.
The study was commissioned by the Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) and five members of its OIA Climate Action Corps - brands and retailers Patagonia, New Balance, Burton and REI Co-op, and textile supplier Gore Fabrics.
Entitled 'Electrification of Heating in the Textile Industry: A Techno-Economic Analysis for China, Japan, and Taiwan', it explores potential energy savings, CO2 emissions reductions, and costs for electrification.
