VICTORIA – Animal welfare organisations have accused Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) of failing to strategise and establish targets for a mulesing-free future, despite market indicators.
In a submission to the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO), Humane Society International, Four Paws and the RSPCA have taken issue with AWI’s management, governance and performance under its Statutory Funding Agreement with the government, according to Sheep Central.
ANAO is to table a report on the matter in April of next year, in which it will determine whether the industry authority is fulfilling its requirements.
