LONDON – Ethical footwear start-up Løci has secured £4 million (US$4.6m) in funding to scale its operations, with actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio amongst its backers.
The company, launched just last year, has set out to offer ‘sustainable’ footwear – manufactured using ‘premium’ materials including recycled ocean plastic – to the masses, and says its environmental impact is “just as important” as its sales and popularity.
CEO Emmanual Eribo commented: “Today, it's essential we do more than just make a fantastic product. We are here to change things. That's why it's always important for us to think differently, to swim against the tide.”
