PRATTELN / SPRINGFIELD - Specialty chemicals company Archroma has linked up with natural dye start-up Stony Creek Colors to produce and bring to the market the latter’s IndiGold plant-based indigo at scale.
Stony Creek Colors describes IndiGold as the world’s first pre-reduced natural indigo dye, and says the partnership with Archroma will offer the first plant-based alternative to synthetic pre-reduced indigo to the denim industry.
Stony Creek extracts its dye from proprietary indigofera plant varieties grown as a regenerative rotational crop by US farmers. Produced as a 20 per cent concentration in a soluble liquid form, it is said to display similar performance to synthetic dyes.
