JAIPUR - Researchers from three Indian universities have developed a textile industry wastewater treatment solution which they claim can eliminate toxicity and make it suitable for industrial and even domestic use.
The project, by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh; Malaviya National Institute of Technology in Jaipur, Rajasthan; and MBM Engineering College in Jodhpur, Rajasthan; aims to both reduce water treatment costs and enable the reuse of water in dry regions.
The scientists say that the current three-stage treatment process for wastewater cannot remove synthetic industrial dyes while the current standalone advanced oxidation process (AOP) is costly and might not meet government standards.
