LONDON – The UK government has today launched a new initiative in collaboration with high-street retailers including Marks & Spencer, Primark and Tesco, through which capital will be made available to those in clothing and food supply chains across Africa and Asia.
Announced by International Development Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan, funding of more than £6.5 million will be made available to kick-start projects addressing the delivery of healthcare and coronavirus preparedness in workplaces, amongst other things.
Trevelyan commented: “This new fund will strengthen vital supply chains for UK consumers, while supporting some of the most vulnerable workers in developing countries. It will make a real difference to people in the UK and abroad.”
