BERLIN - Online retailer Zalando has linked up with the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (SAC) and the Higg Co to make sustainability assessment mandatory for brands selling on its platform.
The company becomes the first retailer to use the SAC's updated version of the Higg Brand & Retail Module (Higg BRM) which aims to move the industry closer to a system of standardised measurement on sustainability.
Zalando will gather comparable data from its partner brands while Higg BRM data will help Zalando identify trends and explore how to develop solutions to sustainability issues.
