PARIS – Former Lacoste and Diesel CEO, Steven Birkhold, says apparel brands must start to leverage technology if they’re to become more transparent and authenticate assertions of sustainability within their supply chains.

Birkhold, who’s been in fashion for more than 30 years, has spoken to us exclusively in the latest issue of Ecotextile News as he joins a burgeoning technology firm on a consultancy basis.

“I’ve been in the fashion business for decades and honestly only in the last five, six, seven years maximum has this [transparency] become something that fashion brands are aware of,” Birkhold says.
