AMSTERDAM – ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) has announced the release of version 1.1 of its Wastewater Guidelines. The industry coalition, which counts Inditex, Kering, H&M, Adidas and Nike amongst its contributors, has revised its guidelines – first set out in 2016 to harmonise standards on the topic – to provide greater clarity on its requirements.
This includes an expansion of standard methods for analysing conventional parameters, reporting limits and test methods for sludge parameters, and new requirements for suppliers with on-site Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) system. The organisation also says it plans to release version 2.0 of its Wastewater Guidelines by late 2020.
