VELEN – German textile manufacturer Velener Textil GmbH has won the Discover Natural Fibres Initiative’s (DNFI) Innovation in Natural Fibres Award for its Wecycled system which reclaims the 30 per cent of cotton yarn that remains unused in textile mills.
Velener Textil collects spent cones from partner mills and separates the unused cotton yarn at its sheltered workshops using its sophisticated method of recycling. The recovered cotton can be used in a special blend of raw material and Wecycled fibres that meet high quality standards for colour fastness, strength and other integral attributes of consumer products.
