As part of our 10th Anniversary edition of Ecotextile News, we interviewed Otto Group founder and noted long-time environmentalist Dr Michael Otto to find out more about his reasons for setting his company on a path to sourcing consumer goods in a more sustainable manner. He talks to us about how and why he launched the Aid by Trade Foundation back in 2005 and describes how through Cotton Made in Africa, he's managed to create a situation where cotton farmers who produce the raw material for textiles no longer have to suffer from "cotton prices on world markets that were artificially kept low by subsidies and thus prevented African smallholder farmers from generating a fair income."
