Major green factory opens in Bangladesh

One of Bangladesh’s leading garment manufacturers, which supplies to the likes of M&S, Gap Inc, H&M, Primark, PVH and Debenhams, has opened a new green factory which has been LEED certified by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) for its eco-friendly measures.

Italian brands join upcycling initiative

Leading Italian businesses, Carvico and Jersey Lomellina, which produce high-tech knitted fabrics for swimwear, sportswear, underwear and outerwear, have announced their participation in the Healthy Seas initiative which works to up-cycle marine waste for new textile products.

Xeros signs million dollar US deal

UK company Xeros, which makes industrial washing machines that replace the use of large amounts of water with special nylon polymer beads, has signed a deal worth in excess of one million dollars with US laundry business, eLaundry.com.

German functional textiles business, Sympatex Technologies, has won a prestigious award for its 100 per cent recycled and recyclable functional laminates.

Remediation process in Bangladesh still dragging

Just two Bangladeshi garment factories have been verified as having completed all initial remediation and received recognition letters from the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety’s chief safety inspector according to the Accord’s latest Advisory Board update on efforts by Bangladesh garment factories to implement safety measures.

Sateri launches sustainability policy

Sateri, one of the world’s largest viscose staple fibre producers, has launched its latest sustainability policy, which includes commitments to investing in R&D and innovations in the use of wood fibres and a pledge to encourage suppliers to ban deforestation, as well as supporting conservation projects and the responsible management of peatlands.

Oeko-Tex updates STeP in line with ZDHC
