HONG KONG – Multi-national Japanese fashion brand Uniqlo has been forced to publicly respond to an undercover exposé which revealed serious labour compliance concerns at two of its Chinese supplier factories. Among the most damning revelations were the severe fines being used by Uniqlo management to "punish" and manage workers, including cases of workers losing an entire day's pay for minor indiscretions and frequent visits by Uniqlo management to check on production issues and hand-down fines.
