LONDON – Standard-compliant cotton produced from programmes such as the Better Cotton Initiative and organic could account for around a quarter of global production by 2020 according to a new report, which carried out a comprehensive review of leading identity cotton initiatives. The report claims sustainability will provide a vital basis for differentiation between cotton and its substitutes moving forwards – improving quality, security of supply and, consequently, market competitiveness.
