LONDON – Textiles that are certified to the new version of the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which was released today, will now be allowed to contain up to 30 per cent regenerated or recycled synthetic fibres provided they are sourced from certified organic production, sustainable forestry management or from recognised recycled standards. Bans on GMO (genetically modified organism), nanotechnology and carcinogenic substances have been maintained along with new bans on virgin polyester and angora.
