LONDON – The Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals (ZDHC) Group has revealed a new framework for prioritising the phase out of hazardous chemical substances used in the textile, apparel and footwear supply chain. As a consequence, a pared down list of previously identified restricted chemicals will now be prioritised for action, using the new framework to rank the chemicals by three main criteria: hazard, volume and use pattern. The ZDHC Group claims this new framework is a critical step in achieving its vision of zero discharge of hazardous chemicals across member supply chains and product life cycles by 2020.
